Our Weird Lives is about genuinely connecting with one another by being honest about the weird or uncomfortable things we have been through.
Odds are, you’ve never told anyone about how you went through a good chunk of your life believing, “Indian” food was really, “Native American” food. And I’ve only told a handful of people about that one kid in 8th grade (I think his name was Greg?) who said I have a shiny forehead and nose hairs that need dealing with (which I did BUT STILL).
I definitely haven’t told anyone outside my family and husband exactly what it was like growing up with an emotionally immature father with a drinking problem. I’ll bet there are deeper/darker experiences in your past that you haven’t told many people about, either.
But fact is, we need to talk about those things. All of them. And we need to hear feedback in the way of love, kindness, and empathy. That’s what Our Weird Lives is all about.
So, here’s how it goes:
- Read a post about my weird life
- Comment or send me an email about how it relates to your weird life
- We both feel a little better about our weird lives because now we know there is someone else who went through something similar
Simple. But powerful.
